Understanding Yourself and Others

MPj03958360000[1]

What makes up a person’s character and temperament? Some people seem to be birds of a feather, and some people seem to be totally different. Some people are outgoing, and others tend to be quiet. Some prefer to use their senses, while others are more intuitive. Some have to think things out, while others go by sense of feel. Some will judge events, while others will perceive the result.

These differences have been observed for hundreds of years, dating back to Hippocrates. Over the years, scientists have observed four psychological types of people. In this century, several scientists refined the observations. Isabel Myers along with her mother Katheryn Briggs built on the foundation established by Jung, and the result was 16 different personality types based on four temperaments. They developed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test to identify these types.

Why should I be interested in personality types?

Because this will help you to better understand yourself, and the people you interact with. It helps you realize the tendencies and limitations of people, and how to deal with them and understand their actions and needs. The following resources will provide additional detailed information on this topic.
